Jesus told many stories based on the agrarian society of His day. Pastor Rod Ohmes from Ramsey Creek Baptist Churchin Clarksville, Missouri sees these stories come alive in the community of his rural church.

“Farming takes some of the most faith of any kind of a profession out there… Like Jesus talks about in Mark 4, that a farmer, he sows the seed, he puts the seed in the ground, and then he just goes to sleep and he trusts that it’s going to grow…. Nowadays we can put all kinds of things on the seed and we can wait until just the right time and we can fertilize it at just the right time, but no farmer out there causes that seed to grow. God does…. There’s a lot of faith involved in farming. And so we can draw a lot of parallels between faith and farming just out of the stories Jesus tells and what the nature of faith is.” – Rod Ohmes
