See what I did there? I made the series shorter.
We’ll get to what that’s about in a moment, but first the big news: this week is an in-person gathering! I know we’ve been doing these off and on for a while, but somehow every one still feels momentous to me. The simplest way I know of to think about that is as the emotional recognition that there is no actual substitute for humans being physically present to one another, and that I miss enjoying that with all of you.
To add a layer to the adventure, we’ll be gathering at a venue we’ve never tried before. This is part of our ongoing work toward finding a more consistent space to use starting in August, when we are hoping to return to weekly (or almost weekly) in-person gatherings. The space is called the Mcbeth House Centre. It’s a municipally designated historical site, built in 1912. So this will be kind of like “night at the museum”, except it’s not actually a museum and it’ll be daytime. You know – same but different. It’s an open question as to whether it’ll be a good space for us as a community, but what I can tell you for sure is that it’s not like any space we’ve used before. The grounds are quite lovely as well. There’s a walking path, a covered outdoor picnic area, and handy parking. Particulars for our gathering are below; come out if you can so we can pool our opinions about whether it could be part of the solution going forward.
