Human nature tends toward constant dissatisfaction, always wanting more regardless of what we have. Even Christians can drift into a default mode of greed, gluttony, and apathy, losing awareness of God's daily provisions. The Israelites exemplified this when they complained about manna despite experiencing God's miraculous care. Jesus shows us a different way - living with constant gratitude and awareness of the Father's gifts. He saw ordinary things like birds and flowers as miraculous expressions of God's love. We can retrain our hearts through practices of gratitude, solitude, and Sabbath, learning to receive life as a gift rather than something to consume or earn.
