Flashlight
You can also start carrying another EDC tool such as a flashlight. This gets you into the habit of carrying something with preparedness intent. A flashlight isn't just handy, but a high output light (750+lumens) will disorient anyone as a non-lethal weapon. It will also help get you used to having a tool to carry every day and thinking about using it as a response.
