Guiding Question

How do we keep trusting God when our journey is longer and harder than we expected?

Lesson Focus

Many of us have experienced seasons when life did not unfold according to our plans.

We prayed for an answer, but the answer seemed delayed.

We worked toward a goal, but the goal appeared farther away with every setback.

We continued serving faithfully, yet we quietly wondered whether our efforts were making any difference.

Long seasons of waiting can affect us spiritually and emotionally. They can leave us discouraged. They can increase our anxiety. They may even cause us to question whether God still sees us or whether tomorrow will be any different from today.

The good news is that God understands those moments.

Today’s scriptures remind us that He strengthens His people for the long journey. He teaches us to hold firmly to hope because He remains faithful. He places people around us who help us endure. He also provides the strength we need for each step, even when we cannot see the entire road ahead.

God does not always remove the difficult road.

Sometimes He strengthens us while we are walking through it.

I Have Three Points to Make Today

Hope That Holds — Hebrews 10:23–25

When the journey becomes long, God calls us to remain confident in His promises because the One who made those promises is faithful.

Encouragement That Endures — Hebrews 3:12–14

God strengthens us through faithful relationships that remind us we are not meant to carry life’s burdens alone.

Strength That Sustains — Psalm 84:5–7

True endurance comes from depending on God, who renews our strength as we continue moving through every difficult season.

As I unpack today’s scripture, I want you to ask yourself:

“How do I keep trusting God when my journey is longer and harder than I expected?”

David and Elena did not know how their story would end. They only knew that each day required another decision.

Would they continue trusting God, or would they allow disappointment to convince them that the journey was over?

That is where our first scripture meets us today.

Before we can endure the long road, we must learn how to hold on to hope.

Today’s guiding question is:

How can we develop a heart that humbly follows God’s direction?

Walking humbly with God begins when we surrender our hearts to His will. As we learn to think like Christ, our lives begin to reflect His character. When we trust God’s direction, we grow into the people He has called us to become.

Today, I have three points to make.

First, Choose Humility Philippians 2:1–5 A humble heart begins by choosing the mindset of Christ over selfish ambition.

Second, Live Honorably Philippians 2:12–16 We follow God’s direction by living in a way that reflects His light.

Third, Follow Faithfully Proverbs 3:5–6 We develop a humble heart by trusting God’s wisdom more than our own understanding.

As I unpack today’s lesson, I want you to consider this question:

How can I develop a heart that humbly follows God’s direction?

Guiding Question

How can we love someone who has deeply hurt us without ignoring the wrong they have done?

Lesson Focus

Followers of Christ demonstrate God's love by extending grace even to those who oppose them.

Loving our enemies may be one of the hardest commands Jesus ever gave. It doesn't mean pretending the pain never happened. It doesn't mean ignoring justice or removing healthy boundaries. It means choosing to respond as Christ responded. Instead of allowing hatred to shape our hearts, we allow God's love to transform them. When we do, we not only reflect the character of Christ, but we also begin experiencing the freedom that comes from releasing bitterness and trusting God with justice.

I've got three points to make.

Point One: Love Beyond the Hurt (Luke 6:27–31) Jesus teaches us that love is a decision to honor God even when our hearts have been wounded.

Point Two: Bless Instead of Curse (Luke 6:32–36) Jesus calls us to replace retaliation with mercy because our response should reflect God's character rather than another person's behavior.

Point Three: Overcome Evil with Good (Proverbs 25:21–22) God shows us that genuine goodness has the power to break the cycle of hatred and point people toward His grace.

Guiding Question

How can my faith beyond the church walls help others see the heart of God?

Lesson Focus

Jesus never intended for our faith to remain inside the church. He calls us to live as a visible witness wherever we go. This lesson reminds us that true discipleship is shown through the way we treat people beyond the church walls. When our actions reflect the character of Christ, others have the opportunity to experience God's heart through us.

Shine with Purpose

Matthew 5:13–16

Our faith should help others see God through the way we live.

Show Good Fruit

Matthew 7:15–20

Our faith is revealed by what grows from our hearts into our actions.

Serve with Humility

Micah 6:6–8

Our faith should lead us to do what God requires with compassion and humility.

Success is not measured only by recognition or rewards but by consistent obedience and dedication. When we remain faithful over time, God can use our efforts in ways we never expected. This lesson teaches that purpose is built through daily faithfulness.

Three Points

I have three points to make today.

Point 1: Work while you wait. Scripture: Colossians 3:17–24 Even when purpose feels far away, we honor God by faithfully doing today’s work with excellence.

Point 2: Stay rooted while you’re being recruited. Scripture: Colossians 2:6–7 When distractions, doubt, or discouragement come, we keep growing in Christ so we do not lose focus on our purpose.

Point 3: Don’t despise the small when God sees it all. Scripture: Zechariah 4:6–10 God uses small beginnings and steady obedience to build what He has planned for our lives.

The Focus of Today’s Lesson

Today we will discover that doing what is right does not always bring immediate rewards. Sometimes integrity costs us friendships, opportunities, comfort, or approval. Yet God sees our faithfulness, develops our character, and works through every season of our lives to bring rewards that last far longer than temporary success.

1. Faithfulness Before the Reward

God honors our faithfulness when we do what is right, even when the reward has not yet arrived.

2. Character Before the Reward

Matthew 6:19–24

God often develops character within us before He reveals the reward.

3. Timing Before the Reward

Ecclesiastes 3:1–8

God’s rewards come in His timing, even when we must wait longer than we expected for the reward.

Point 1: The Mission to Go

Gospel of Matthew 28:18–20

Jesus reminds believers that they are sent with divine authority and

called to actively share His teachings through faithful living and

spiritual leadership.

Guiding Question

How do I continue living out God’s mission when the people around me do not yet recognize what God has placed within me?

Lesson Focus

God calls ordinary people to carry out meaningful missions,

often before recognition or opportunity arrives.

Jesus teaches that believers are the light of the world,

and that light should not be hidden when others fail to understand it.

This lesson explores how purpose develops through obedience,

faithfulness, and daily witness as God uses our words,

character, and service to influence others.

How does the Holy Spirit bring me together with people from whom I am separated?

Focus of the Lesson

Pentecost teaches us that God’s Spirit meets us when distance has grown between us. The Spirit helps people gather, heal, and begin understanding one another again.
