October 12, 2021 79. Becoming CONVERTED unto the LORD
Today I share some thoughts and scriptures on being converted unto the Lord. We are in a time of darkness and evil and in order to withstand the fiery tarts of the adversary, we will need to be converted unto the Lord.
“Testimony alone is not and will not be enough to protect us in the latter-day storm of darkness and evil in which we are living. Testimony is important and necessary but not sufficient to provide the spiritual strength and protection we need. Some members of the Church with testimonies have wavered and fallen away. Their spiritual knowledge and commitment did not measure up to the challenges they faced.”
“A testimony is spiritual knowledge of truth obtained by the power of the Holy Ghost. Continuing conversion is constant devotion to the revealed truth we have received—with a heart that is willing and for righteous reasons. Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion. Vanessa grew up in Santa Monica California as a child. She loved her time with her grandparents. She felt God's love as a child but struggled to know where to turn for safety and peace. Vanessa never fully took root in a specific location because every 2 years she would move to another city. Finally, in her late teens, her parents moved to Oregon and she spent more time in one location than at any other time in her life. She found love and had 2 daughters. Times were hard with addiction and betrayal in her marriage. She hoped to provide a better life for her children. She prayed and began cleaning house for Brad who shared the gospel with Vanessa. I love General Conference!! As this weekend approaches, I have been thinking about the great messages from April. I like to re-listen to conference during the months after the broadcast. I feel like I receive many answers to prayer and comfort. Join me today as I share some quotes that I loved from April 2021's General Conference.
“A general conference of the Church is a declaration to all the world that Jesus is the Christ, that He and His Father, the God and Father of us all, appeared to the boy prophet Joseph Smith in fulfillment of that ancient promise that the resurrected Jesus of Nazareth would again restore His Church on earth and again come in like manner as [those Judean Saints had] seen him [ascend] into heaven’ (Acts 1:11). … Conference … is a declaration that He condescended to come to earth in poverty and humility, to face sorrow and rejection, disappointment and death in order that we might be saved from those very fates as our eternity unfolds, that ‘with his stripes we are healed’ (Isaiah 53:5). … Conference proclaims to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people the loving Messianic promise that ‘his mercy endureth for ever’ (see Psalm 136:1).”

September 24, 2021 74. No matter our childhood traumas and suffering, God is aware of all of his children and will provide others to lift you from the rubble with Keven Hopkins
As a young boy, Keven experienced abuse and mental anguish. Believing his value was of no worth he went into a world of self medication with substances. After leaving his home at 15 and joining the military he continued to spiral down and out of control. At the age of 26 he received a letter from his sister. Keven read the letter and had a spiritual experience that was the catalyst of a mighty change of heart. With this transformation he wanted to serve the Lord and continue on a path of discipleship. In time Keven found Lauri and the they got married to start their forever family. After years of suppressing pain and trauma from his childhood in 2017, Keven felt his life was of no value and attempted to leave this earth. Join me today as Keven shares his light and what his challenges have taught him.

September 21, 2021 73. Progressive OVERLOAD
As I thought about my desire to better my health with weight lifting and utilizing progressive overload in my resistance training workouts, I began to think about our spiritual progressive overload and how necessary it is for our own spiritual growth. Elder David A Bednar gave a talk in April 2014 called, Bear up their burdens with ease. He said, "“Is the load I am carrying producing the spiritual traction that will enable me to press forward with faith in Christ on the strait and narrow path and avoid getting stuck? Is the load I am carrying creating sufficient spiritual traction so I ultimately can return home to Heavenly Father?” How are we doing with our spiritual progressive overload?
2 Nephi 28, we read: “For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have”
