Today, we look at a short section of Scripture to remind ourselves of who God is. Just as David did, it is good to remember who God is and how He is our Rock, shelter, fortress, and stronghold, especially in times of trouble. Throughout this lengthy Psalm, we see David remember many ways in which God delivered Him. During these difficult times, it is good for us to do likewise in remembering the ways God has provided and cared for us.

Continuing our reading plan, we stay in Philippians 2 by looking at verses 12-15. In this section today, Paul returns to the exhortations which he began earlier in verses 2-4. Verses 14-15 (and 16) give specific instructions on how to work out God’s “good purpose” (v. 13) concerning daily Christian living. Paul had shown them in 1:27-2:13 the kind of attitude and actions they were to follow. They were to demonstrate in their corporate and individual life this kind of conduct that would prove worthy of the great calling that God has given them. He uses all things to emphasize the inclusiveness of this command.

Today, we focus on the attitude of Christ. We look at how Christ modeled everything right and good and how He set a perfect example for us to follow. Paul describes the power of Christ as well as how we, as believers, are to be united as the body of Christ. This section shows the power of attitude and how we are to examine ourselves and our motives. The section finishes with the exaltation of Christ and how He is glorified.

Today's devotional is a quick reminder about who God is, especially during times of trouble. We are attacked often during these trials to trust ourselves, others, or other means, but this psalm speaks to the value of trusting God.

PHILIPPIANS 1:21, 27-30 LIVING ON MISSION

Today, we finish Philippians 1 by looking at Paul’s command to live on a mission with a heavenly perspective, standing in faith, and being united as Christians and united in purpose to glorify Christ and share the gospel.

Today, we turn our attention to the Majesty of God. We focus on the only God there is and whose handiwork is all around us. Today, we look at Psalm 8 and look to follow the example of David by acknowledging God and His majesty

We continue our “Unshakeable” reading plan by looking again at Philippians 1. This time we look at verses 15-18 that speaks to preaching Christ and the motivation of some preachers. These verses call us to check our own motivations and see if we are seeking the love, approval, and acceptance of others or if we are doing everything in the Spirit for God's glory.

Today we look at Jeremiah 31:31-34 and the New Covenant believers have in Christ. The New Covenant would not be like the covenant God had made with Israel’s forefathers at the time of the Exodus because that covenant had been broken by the people (cf. 11:1–8). From the wilderness period (Ex 32:1-10; Num 25:1-9) until the days of Manasseh, the history of Israel was permeated with idolatrous activity (v. 32 “fathers”), only occasionally broken by periods of true faithfulness to God.

Today we look at Psalm 22 which talks of the Messiah being pierced. David apparently felt forsaken by God, as he was surrounded by his enemies’ scornful persecution. He lamented his tremendous suffering and his desperate struggle with death, pleading with God to deliver him from such a horrible end. Apparently, his prayer was answered, for he was able to declare to the elect and to the world that the Lord answered his prayer.

We continue our reading plan of looking at the unshakeable and Almighty God. In God, we find healing, freedom, and favor in the everlasting and Triune God. Today, we look at the Messianic prophecy Isaiah 61:1-2 to understand what it says about Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
