Self-Acceptance Over Perfection: What My Freak Out Taught Me

Listen Later

What happens when your ego takes over, and you spiral - even while walking a spiritual path?

In this episode, I share a very real experience of having a full emotional freak out after discovering, at the last minute, that my Instagram Live wasn’t working. What followed wasn’t calm or composure - it was judgment, self-attack, and the ego’s familiar quest for perfection.

This conversation is a reminder that nothing is wrong with you when you have a meltdown. Experiences themselves are neutral it’s, the meaning we project onto them that creates suffering. And sometimes, those moments bring unhealed parts of us into the light so they can be met with compassion rather than control.

Inside this episode, we explore:

  • Why self-acceptance matters more than emotional perfection
  • How the ego creates momentum through negative thought loops
  • When catching a spiral early can help — and why it’s okay when you don’t
  • The difference between allowing emotions and identifying with them
  • Why being human on a spiritual path doesn’t mean you’re failing
  • How self-compassion naturally expands into compassion for others
  • I share a metaphor that changed how I relate to emotional spirals - like rolling backward down a steep hill. Sometimes you can stop yourself early. Sometimes you can’t. Both are part of the human experience.

This episode is here to help you feel less alone, soften your relationship with your inner world, and remember the truth:

You don’t need to be happy all the time to be healed.
You just need self-acceptance of your humanness, and the willingness to begin again.
