Dying to self allows us to be free from sin. Without a death you cannot effectively enter into a relationship with God! Trying to do so is like entering into an adulteress relationship where we are married to sin from birth but are trying to have an intimate relationship with God. Dying to self is more than just a foundational step toward righteousness it is the only step that can properly align us with God to be His children.
