Biblical love shows respect in our words, our tone, our habits, and our willingness to change anything that unnecessarily irritates or embarrasses the person we love. RESPECT IS LOVE MINDING ITS MANNERS. Rudeness says: "THIS IS JUST THE WAY I AM." Love says: "IF IT HURTS YOU, I'M WILLING TO WORK ON IT." Rudeness demands to be understood. LOVE SEEKS TO UNDERSTAND. Rudeness embarrasses. LOVE HONORS. Rudeness defends itself. LOVE LISTENS. One of the marks of a mature marriage is being willing to ask: "WHAT IS IT LIKE TO LIVE WITH ME?" And then having enough humility to listen to the answer.

THOUGHTFUL LOVE NOTICES. Thoughtless love forgets. THOUGHTFUL LOVE REMEMBERS. Thoughtless love reacts. THOUGHTFUL LOVE THINKS FIRST. Thoughtless love waits to be asked. THOUGHTFUL LOVE TAKES INITIATIVE. One of the simplest ways to strengthen your marriage is to begin thinking intentionally about the person God has given you. Ask yourself today: "WHAT IS GOING ON IN MY SPOUSE'S HEART THAT I NEED TO NOTICE?" Because great marriages do not happen by accident. GREAT MARRIAGES COME FROM GREAT THINKING—FOLLOWED BY LOVING ACTION.

Love asks: "WHAT DO YOU NEED?" Selfishness keeps score. LOVE TEARS UP THE SCORECARD. Selfishness demands to be served. LOVE LOOKS FOR WAYS TO SERVE. Selfishness waits for the other person to change. LOVE GOES FIRST. Before criticizing your spouse's selfishness today, ask God to show you your own. And then ask one simple question: "WHAT CAN I GIVE TODAY INSTEAD OF WHAT CAN I GET?" That's the kind of love Jesus demonstrated toward us. And that's the kind of love that can transform a marriage.

Jesus focuses on the attitude of luxery, unnecessary, physical possessions that people store and stockpile for selfish reasons. 1. The Rich: tempted to trust in their riches & possessions, tempted to become self satisfied in the false security of their riches. 2. The Poor: tempted to doubt God's provision, tempted to worry & fear in false security of their poverty Anxious: full of mental stressor uneasiness because of fear of danger or misfortune, greatly worried, apprehensive Worry: to torment oneself with disturbing thoughts

Patience keeps us from doing something hurtful; kindness moves us to do something helpful.KINDNESS IS LOVE IN ACTION. A strong marriage needs both. Patience says: "I won't hurt you." Kindness says: "I will help you." Kindness is: GENTLE IN THE WAY IT SPEAKS. HELPFUL IN THE WAY IT SERVES. WILLING IN THE WAY IT COOPERATES. ACTIVE IN THE WAY IT TAKES INITIATIVE.

DAY 1 — LOVE IS PATIENT. [LOVE KNOWS WHEN TO WAIT, WHEN TO LISTEN, AND WHEN TO BE QUIET] Patience is love under pressure. It gives our spouse room to be human, refuses to allow anger to control our response, and chooses grace when retaliation would be easier.Marriage doesn't become stronger merely because two people love each other. It becomes stronger when two people learn to practice biblical love toward each other. And the first lesson is patience. PATIENCE LISTENS BEFORE REACTING. PATIENCE GIVES GRACE TO IMPERFECT PEOPLE. PATIENCE CHOOSES PEACE OVER RETALIATION. You cannot control everything your spouse says. You cannot control everything your spouse does. BUT WITH GOD'S HELP, YOU CAN CONTROL HOW YOU RESPOND.
