At Jesus' transfiguration, his disciples got a glimpse into the heavenly realm and the glory of the Son of God. Join us in Matthew 17:1-13 for a unique glimpse of who Jesus is.
Jesus is the delight of the Father
Jesus is worth listening to
Jesus is our answer before a holy God
Jesus is the fulfillment of God's plan
Jesus is the proof of God's promises
If following Jesus means sharing with him in death, why would we ever follow him? Join us in Matthew 16:21-28 as Jesus teaches us why he must suffer, why we must suffer with him, and how we can find hope in our suffering.
Jesus has given us an all-important, God-exalting, compassion-sharing mission. If we are to succeed in our task, we must avoid dangerous teaching, subtle teachings that would derail us. Join us as we examine the lethal leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
What can a pagan woman from a nation that's hostile to God, with a demon-possessed daughter teach us about faith? Jesus will use this encounter to bring hope to those who seem far from God and to make uncomfortable anyone who thinks they deserve a seat at God's table. Listen to the words of Jesus as we're led to rejoice in the undeserved, overflowing mercy of God.
Why do you do what you do? In Matthew 15:1-20, Jesus confronts the Pharisees for elevating human traditions above God's Word and exposes the danger of outward religion without a transformed heart. True defilement doesn't come from external rituals but from the sinful heart within.
Join us as we explore Jesus' call to examine our traditions, submit everything to Scripture, and receive the new heart that God provides through the new covenant in Christ.
Do you ever feel like you're sinking in your walk with Jesus? Like you're stuck? Do you feel like you're just trying not to drown? When our eyes are squarely on Jesus, everything seems great! Faith is easy to come by; we're enjoying life with him in ways we never dreamed possible. Then something catches our attention. Fear. We take our eyes off of Jesus and we are terrified by the realities and dangers of life. Then as we start to sink, we panic even more.
You're not alone and you don't have to stay there. Join us as we hear the story of Jesus delivering his disciple in his little faith and what it means for us to continue asking the Lord to deliver us, even after he's saved us.
Matthew 13:31-32 31 He presented another parable to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It’s the smallest of all the seeds, but when grown, it’s taller than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the sky come and nest in its branches.”
Matthew 13:33 33 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and mixed into fifty pounds of flour until all of it was leavened.”
Matthew 13:44-46 44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure, buried in a field, that a man found and reburied. Then in his joy he goes and sells everything he has and buys that field. 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. 46 When he found one priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had and bought it.
Matthew 13:51-52 51 “Have you understood all these things?” They answered him, “Yes.” 52 “Therefore,” he said to them, “every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom treasures new and old.”
Instead of reacting with fear or overzealous judgment, Jesus calls us to trust His timing; the presence of weeds does not threaten God’s plan or His ultimate victory. God is patient, allowing time for repentance, but a day is coming when He will separate the wheat from the weeds.
It's so easy to hear without really hearing. How often does something go in one ear and out the other? How often do we nod along, but not actually hear what's being said? How often do we tell someone to do something, only for it to be forgotten immediately?
