On September 11, 2001, Michael Hingson and his dog guide Roselle were in an office on the 78th floor of Tower One of the World Trade Center. Their lives were changed forever by two explosions and 1,463 stairs. Join Seminars@Hadley as Michael tells the story of a bond between a dog and a man which saved lives and brought hope on one of America's darkest days. His new book, Thunder Dog, has been on the New York Times best seller list for five weeks and running.

As Hadley prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of English language instruction in China this September, two of the school's Chinese instructors, Floria and Cindy, are visiting the U.S., and bring with them unique perspective and insight into American living. If you have ever wondered what life in China is like and how it compares to the U.S., please join us for Seminars@Hadley as Floria and Cindy share their observations and explore some culture differences. They will be joined by Rob Collins, co-author of the book "Doing Business in China for Dummies", and Hadley instructor Nafisa Keels. Karen Woodfork, director of student services at Hadley, will moderate the discussion.

Participants will learn about life in China from the director of The Hadley School for the Blind in Fuzhou, China. Joining Mr. Xia (Chester) Rongqiang will be Hadley instructor Nafisa Keels who is currently visiting China and providing spoken English tutoring. Topics to be covered include what every day life in China is like for people with visual impairments, why English language proficiency is desirable and how blind people are employed in their communities along with other topics as well. The free seminar will last approximately 60 minutes and is open to all Hadley students. Questions are welcome from all participants.
