  • ~Episode 55~ Keep That Same Hussle (feat. Mark Engel)
Olympic skier and podcast editor Mark Engel joins this episode of the Sensei Said So show to talk to your hosts, VO Sensei and Shado, about retiring as an athlete. Mark mentions that he has been having a hard time transitioning to the next part of life, and VO and Shado, who both competed in sports at a very competitive level, tell their stories and offer their advice on how to smooth out that transition. Also, Cardi B's recent comments on drugging and robbing men are discussed. VO asks why it is that we judge certain hip hop celebrities for their past lives and not others? A lively discussion follows! Finally, everybody focuses in on the tragic death of Nipsey Hussle. Tough questions are asked, such as: does glorifying violence in hip hop brings down black culture? Does glorifying violence in hip hop help "cause" these sort of killings, or does the violence arise because of the economic and social factors in certain neighborhoods in the US? Does making uplifiting music help the culture? Can boycotting violent music change the culture? There may be no concrete answers to these difficult questions, but we at the Sensei Said So Show believe these questions are worth discussing.

In this episode of the Sensei Said So Show, your hosts talk about the pros and cons of arranged mairrages, and Shado talks about his experience of his mom trying to find him a wife in Nigeria. VO Sensei finds it funny that arranged marriage brings up a negative connotation when it is other people picking one's spouse, but western society finds it ok to let an algorithm (eharmony) do the picking! Next your hosts discuss Killer Mike's new netflix show. And finally they discuss a few listener questions on the new "Ask Sensei" segment. For the first question "Nick" asks "why, anytime there's a shooting, do investigator's always find some sort of gang activity?" And, Nick Johnson asks "Who are on the Mount Rushmore of your sports G.O.A.T.'s?" Tune in to see what your senseis have to say and who they put on their list!

  • ~Episode 52~ The Godfather of Modern Hip Hop (Feat. Vinnie Cassius and Adam Banx)
Feast your ears on another controversial episode of the Sensei Said So Show! Your hosts, Vo Sensei and Shado "Da Villain," are joined on this episode by Adam Banx, a producer and musician who has been involved in Salt Lake City's music scene for the last 12 years, and Vinnie Cassius, the dark knight of Ogden and one of the lake's premiere artists. Adam discusses how being more personable has helped his career, and how his style has progressed from rock and indie music to hip hop. Then, Vinnie makes the statement that he is not only "the best in the lake," but "the best, period." Your hosts back up Vinnie's claim by admiring his ability to create art through music and get listeners to feel whatever emotion he puts down on a track. Next your hosts discuss the history of Salt Lake City's hip hop scene, and ask the question: "Is Soulja boy the Godfather of modern day hip hop?" After that, we revisit a conversation from episode 8, and Shado brings up his controversial opinion that black men should preferentially make babies with black women, in order to "preserve the culture." He then asks Vinnie again his opinion on making a "interracial baby." VO concludes that asking these kind of questions make color of bigger importance to society, and that all colors are equally important and should be treated as such.

  • ~Episode 50~ R Kelly or OUR Problem? (Feat. Rollxm Joey)
Welcome to the first episode of Season 5 of the Sensei Said So Show! First, your hosts welcome a new sponsor to the show, 801 Customs!! 801 Customs "has been designed to help customize, build, and/or fabricate anything you can dream up." They specialize in producing custom vehicle wraps, custom suspension work, custom roll cages, custom off-road vehicle safety design. In addition to that, they can tackle a variety of filming and photography projects, and also produce clothing and metal art. Then, your hosts are joined by fellow artist, Rollxm Joey, aka "the 4th member of the Distillery 36," to discuss issues such as R Kelly, and the presidential shutdown. Vo Sensei explains that because he believes that R Kelly's predatory actions are transcribed into the words of his music, he will no longer be listening to any of R Kelly's music. He also explains why he blames society as having a role in R Kelly's nastiness, because the "Pied Piper" was out in the open but people kept supporting him. Then, Shado, Joey, and VO talk about the government shut down and how Trump seems to be treating the country just like running another business, and how he is most likely pandering to his demographic so that he can rely on their business after the presidency. Next, Joey opens up about his song Facetime and about the difficulty of swallowing his pride to work with another artist on one of his own tracks. And finally, everyone discusses the importance of artists looking at their music as a product and a business, and the importance of SLC artists being willing to negotiate with booking agents and venues, instead of looking at them as the enemy.
