Its been a crazy week as Steam steps into the console arena with its compact PC device designed to plug into your TV that has caused all manner of distress on the internet for people who are labelling it a PC or console depending on whatever narrative suits them. Did Valve just completely derail Xbox's next-gen ambitions? Sony also angered a lot of fans by announcing 2 mobile games from their first party studios, Horizon Steel Frontiers and a Ratchet and Clank game but they are skipping Playstation consoles entirely. Meanwhile Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has released to very little fanfare whilst Arc Raiders (rightly!) dominates the MP charts. Rockstar increases our pain by delaying GTA 6 again! Its a big delay that will make the wait even more excruciating but is this the final delay or will GTA 6 slip into 2027? Halo Infinite's 10 year plan gets cut short with the final update for the game being announced as Halo Studios on multiple Halo projects. Arc Raiders absolutely dominates the scene and interesting insight has been given into the Playstation 6 with an interview between Digital Foundry and Mark Cerny which might cause the hardcore PS fanboys to revisit their chest-beating in advance. Details regarding the Mass Effect TV series have been released, Square Enix has had mas layoffs as it records profits after a long time, rumours suggest Don Mattrick cancelled a Xbox MMO.

The details of the next Xbox are starting to come out and there are some very intriguing details there that even detractors of Xbox are quite clearly silently intrigued. Halo Studios revealed Halo Campaign Evolved but we now hear that both Halo 2 and 3 are having remakes too. Meanwhile, the multiplayer space FINALLY gets a tetanus shot this generation with Battlefield 6, Battlefield RedSec and Arc Raiders making waves. Marathon has its work cut out if it wants to make a splash in the extraction shooter genre.

The downward spiral of the Xbox brand continues in magnificent fashion as we start to understand just why Xbox is in the state it is in, who really is in control of this once amazing gaming brand and then with the reveal of one of its pillars that made the entire Xbox console viable in the first place, Halo, releasing on the Playstation 5 day and date.
