Sequel Pitch

Happy Holidays! Well here we are with the final episode of Sequel Pitch for 2021! And as it's dropping on Christmas Eve, we really thought that we should get something properly festive in. A real holiday classic. One that everyone can enjoy.

Then we decided against that and did Home Sweet Home Alone (2021), Disney+'s newest entry into the long running kid's classic series.

But it's not all bad, because at least we had Alex Gilston (@PresenterAlex) back with us to see off 2021 in style.

You can expect some really scathing reviews of this movie (really sorry about that), lots of inventive ideas for traps (so maybe don't let your kids listen to this episode... maybe don't let them listen anyway, we use a lot of bad language), and a LOT OF FUN!

Also, stick around at the end of the episode for an extra special Christmas present! You're Welcome!

No-one can be told what Sequel Pitch is... you have to listen for yourself...

Actually it's pretty easy to explain the podcast; in this bumper length episode we review 2003's The Matrix Revolutions, directed by the Wachowskis, and starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne-Moss, Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving. And of course afterwards, we have a go pitching our sequels ahead of the release of The Matrix Resurrections in just a few days!

Be ready for a trilogy of trilogy pitches, some really bad movie titles, and some extremely good Agent Smith impressions

So we're not sure if you're aware but there's a new Spider-Man movie coming out in a couple of weeks. Some people might have watched the trailer, apparently?

We kid; here at Sequel Pitch we are very excited to see the continuing adventures of Tom Holland's Peter Parker, so we decided to swing into action with an episode so big it could fit the entire Sinister Six, and review the previous outing, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), Directed by Jon Watts, and starring Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, and many more.

You can expect discussion of Jake Gyllenhaal's frankly outrageous levels of charisma, a bananas amount of characters that aren't Spider-Man being brought into our pitches, and some artful footwork trying not to include things that are in the existing trailers for the new movie! How well do we do? Let us know!

Grab your magnifying glasses, put on your tweed and get ready for some beautifully shot places and people - this episode we try to get to the heart of the mystery, or maybe the hole in the donut, that is Rian Johnson's 2019 murder mystery Knives Out. starring Daniel Craig, Ana De Armas, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Chris Evans and... well there are a lot of them and they're all great.

Expect numerous impressions of Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc (all of them bad), discussion of some good good cinematography, some inspired casting choices, and some discussion of the ethics of private investigators.

SPOOKY! SPOOKY HALLOWEEN EPISODE! That's right, in our second horror movie in a row, we dive into the 3rd and most recent movie in the Conjuring series; The Devil Made Me Do It, Directed by Michael Chaves and starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.

There's some pretty gnarly stuff in this movie, and in the sequels we're pitching, so be prepared for non-graphic description of sexual assault, demons, exorcisms, ghosts, ghouls, and John Noble, but thankfully not eating a tomato like that scene in Lord of the Rings.

It's October so that can only mean one thing on a movie podcast - HORROR MOVIES! So we've grabbed our inside-out William Shatner masks and sharpened our kitchen knives for discussion and sequel pitching for 2018's sequel/retcon Halloween, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer, and directed by David Gordon Green, just in time for the release of the real life sequel, HALLOWEEN KILLS (2021) - how do ours match up?

Expect some graphic deaths, discussion of child murder, descriptions of intense violence, oh and a plot point about podcasters being really dumb.

With No Time To Die just hitting our screens, it's time to dust off your dinner jackets, load your Walther PPKs, and step into the shoes of an imperialist British institution trying to exist in the modern world, as we pitch sequels for the 2015 James Bond movie, Spectre, starring Daniel Craig and directed again by Sam Mendes.

Expect discussion of who should be the next Bond, explosions, gun fights, surprise heel turns, and... well, it's James Bond, you know what to expect.
