Sequelisers

Thanks to one of our VIPs, we're taking a look at a beloved horror comedy classic. Or, more accurately, the grotesquely puppeted sequel bearing the same name. But being the wild card final season, we've got so much we can do to fix it. So are we bringing it back as a sequel, a prequel or a remake? All remains to be seen. Get it? Remains? Corpse. Yeah, you got it.

Enter a magical world filled with dog-like dinosaurs, wax Robin Williamses and, unfortunately, Ricky Gervais, as we take a trip to the museum and attempt to fix the second film in this family adventure series. What secrets do we uncover, and what wild card solution will Matt pick to fix the Battle of the Smithsonian?

We're travelling to Pandora to fix the sequel to the highest-grossing film of all time.

Oh, and the bad sequel? It's the third-highest-grossing film of all time!

And what even is "The Way of Water" anyway?!

You'll have to tune in and find out!

Paddington. One of the most highly revered and praised films had a third instalment that was by no means bad but fell short of its predecessors. So we were asked by one of our VIPs to fix it. But how do you contend with Paddington and Paddington 2? Do you make a sequel, a prequel or a remake? Well, that's Jack's problem.

The original Secret of NIMH kicked off Don Bluth's independent animation studio, and is fondly remembered by many millennials. But the sequel abandons all its ambition and artistry for a cheap cash-in. Can we craft something that better honours the original's legacy? And which Sequeliser is a hardcore Bluth-hater?

It's not quite Scream and not quite Scary Movie, it's those other horror films from the late 90s!

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer is a big mess and definitely needs fixing.

And yes, the third one is even worse than you remember.

What happens when you get a sequel to a movie that's technically already a sequel, as well as a remake, that made a billion dollars and kickstarted a calamitous path that led to an infinite spooling of unbearable live action Disney remakes? You send it our way of course! But the question is, do we sequelise, prequelise, or requelise Alice Through The Looking Glass?

Take a deep breath as we head beneath the thermocline and encounter some bloody big sharks in Meg 2: The Trench. What on earth is a director like Ben Wheatley doing with a Jason Statham sequel, and can a trip to Fun Island redeem this slog of a movie? We answer those questions and many more in this episode.

We're crossing the border to fix a disappointing sequel to a modern classic. 2015's Sicario is a fascinating and harrowing story of what happens on the US-Mexican border. The sequel seemed to learn the wrong lessons from the first film so, it's time for us to fix it!

But will it be a sequel, prequel or remake?

Listen and find out!

Our final, wild card season continues with our first VIP pick. And it's an incredibly recent release - only a few months old at time of recording. Moana 2 went on to gross more than its predecessor but considering it was a TV series that was rushed and condensed into a feature, it loses something along the way. But the question is, do we sequelise it, prequelise it, or requelise it?
