EP91 | The Breakfast Club Sequel

We’re heading back to the 80s for detention in the latest episode of SequelQuest to discuss a sequel to the classic teen angst film, The Breakfast Club. In 1985 John Hughes assembled a young cast that included Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall and Ally Sheedy for a movie that empowered the new generation. Hughes even had plans to film sequels every ten years that never came to pass, so now it’s time for the SequelQuest crew to step up.

Joined by Steven from smbmovie.com, Adam, Jeff and Jeramy talk about their high school experiences before pitching a direct follow-up film set in detention the next Saturday, a reboot set in the modern day and even a 90s sitcom TV movie that you have to hear to believe.

So don’t you forget about SequelQuest and get ready for some retro 80s fun now.

EP90 | The Karate Kid Franchise Sequel | SequelQuest

When The Karate Kid was released in 1984, it not only kickstarted a film franchise that gave us the adventures of Daniel Larusso and the wisdom of Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi, it created a martial arts phenomenon that swept the nation (and a leg or two along the way). Three official sequels to The Karate Kid were produced between 1986 and 1994 with The Next Karate Kid trading Ralph Macchio for Hillary Swank to diminishing returns. The critically acclaimed web series, Cobra Kai recently gave us a glimpse of the world of The Karate Kid in the 21st century, but what if we had gotten a 4th theatrical film in the 90s?

That’s the mission of your SequelQuest crew of Adam, Jeff and Jeramy in this episode of the podcast. Returning after a 2 month hiatus, your hosts have been working on their crane kicks and drum techniques to get in peak movie pitching form. What could the plot of The Karate Kid Part 4 possibly be? Maybe a touching tale of long lost Miyagi relatives? Perhaps an early prediction for a possible storyline in Cobra Kai season 2? There might even be a mash-up film that brings all your movie martial arts characters like the 3 Ninjas and Surf Ninjas into a wild post-apocalyptic gang war flick if you’re lucky.

So listen now to the return of SequelQuest and you’ll be reminded why when it come to fake movie fun, SequelQuest is the best around!

    Bonus EP9 | Trick Or Treat w/Chad (HorrorMovieBBQ.com)

On our recent Halloween episode we shared with you our “tricks” for getting Sammi Curr rocking and rolling back into the world of horror movies when we pitched a sequel to the 1986 cult film, Trick Or Treat. We had so much fun discussing the movie with our special guest on that episode, we couldn’t help but dive back into the heavy metal mayhem with Chad from HorrorMovieBBQ.com and it was a real “treat”.

In this bonus Halloween podcast you‘ll learn why Chad ranks Sammi Curr above Michael Meyers and Pinhead in the pantheon of horror movie icons, as well as hear his theories on the real reason Nuke disappears during the film’s climax. Chad and Adam even come up with a way to continue the adventures of Sammi Curr in a graphic novel format!

Most exciting of all, Chad tells the stories of how he decided to “stand up and be counted” among Trick or Treat super fans by meeting two cast members from the film. Yes, Chad met both Marc Price and Gene Simmons in the flesh and lived to tell the tale.

So listen now and enjoy this special conversation with one of Rock’s chosen warriors as your friends at SequelQuest wish you a Happy Halloween!

    EP88 | Trick or Treat 2

Sammi Curr, the demonic heavy metal rocker from cult horror flick, Trick Or Treat is being raised from the dead once again in this special Halloween episode of SequelQuest. The tale of high school outcast Eddie Weinbauer played by Marc Price contained an ear splitting soundtrack by Fastway and featured special appearances by controversial rock icons Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne. It wasn't the horror hit Dino DeLaurentiis was looking for, but the cult of Sammi Curr grew on VHS.

Rock's Chosen Warriors Jeff, Adam and special guest from The Purple Stuff podcast, Jay do their best to summon the "metalspoitation" madness of the original as they pitch Trick Or Treat 2 in the modern day. Who will carry on the legacy of Sammi Curr and who will feel his rockin' wrath? Listen and find out.

KISS fans Adam and Jay can't help but gush about their fandom for Gene Simmons and the hottest band in world, so there's an extra treat for members of the KISS Army. But the real excitement is in the ideas for a Trick Or Treat sequel so stand up and be counted as you listen to the fun.

    EP86 | A Spaced Invaders Sequel

Prepare to laugh, Earth Scum! In 1990 Touchstone Pictures invaded movie theaters with Spaced Invaders, a family comedy starring Ariana Richards with out of this world ambitions. An eclectic crew of Martians arrive in small town Illinois thinking they are part of conquering force, but soon realize the transmission they heard was just a Halloween night broadcast of Orson Welles' infamous War of the Worlds radio broadcast. Hijinks ensue.

The film was a mainstay of video store shelves in the 90s, but failed to blow up the box office upon it's release. Now, nearly 30 years later, the SequelQuest crew thinks they are up to the challenge of creating a viable Spaced Invaders 2 with the help of a very special guest.

Join Adam, Jeff and Jeramy as they are piloted by romance author and sci-fi fan, "Commander" Sue London (www.bysuelondon.com) through the goofy fun and frantic action of this cult Halloween film in order to imagine a Spaced Invaders sequel. Discover the secrets of the Martian home world. Swoon at the budding romance between a special effects artist and a frisbee champion. And what does Howard The Duck have to do with all of this? Listen now and find out!

    EP85 | A Team Movie Sequel | SequelQuest

We love it when a plan comes together. In 2010 the 1980's prime time hit The A-Team was adapted to the big screen and promised big action and big fun, but was unfortunately a big bomb at the box office. Even with the star power of Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, The A-Team movie just didn't connect with fans of blockbuster cinema.

SequelQuest loves a challenge as much as Mr. T loves gold chains and that's why Adam and Jeff along with returning guest, Carlin Trammel aka CT from the Nerd Lunch podcast decided to take on the mission of pitching an A-Team sequel that will knock the cigar right out of your mouth.

Hop into our custom van as we discuss our nostalgia for the original A-Team TV series and the mountain of merchandising that came with it's success, as well as a debate the merits of the big screen version that may deserve a second look.

So who will Hannibal, Face, B.A. and Murdock take on in The A-Team 2? The bad guys range from drug lords to ghosts from Hannibal's past but they all add up to trouble that gives our favorite group of highly skilled mercernaries a chance to strut their stuff.

While you won't have to "get on no plane", we're telling you to get "on the jazz" and listen to the podcast, Fool!
