Now that Paul has taken 11 chapters to explain the glories of the gospel, it’s time for us to do our part, right? Romans 12 begins the last section of Romans (Gratitude), and specifically how God’s grace doesn’t “stop,” but rather sustains us in our everyday practical life.

Romans 11 can feel a bit like a maze with all of Paul’s confusing statements. However, when we consider the greater picture we see a glorious God who has worked in Christ to save sinners throughout history.

The mystery of “Israel,” and the lesson a tree can give us about God’s plan of salvation for all people.

How is it that people move from unbelief and rejection of Christ to faith in Christ? Romans 10 gives us the ways and means God uses to bring about faith in His people.

We often like to say that “God is not like us” when we are highlighting something we don’t understand. Romans 9 reveals to us that sometimes the greatest (and most beautiful) mystery is God’s gracious acts toward sinners in Christ.

If it were up to us, we would desire a God that is “safe.” That is, a God who fits into all of our categories and neat boundaries. But the God of Scripture is anything but safe, but Romans 9 does remind us that He is good.

Romans is dense. It is full of theology, big truths, and even some uncomfortable statements. But at the end of Romans 8, we are pointed to this truth: it all comes back to Jesus.

The Christian life is one lived in tension. We sin, suffer, and experience pain. Is it worth it? Is Jesus worth it? Paul gives us two truths: our future hope, and our present help.
