We have been created to serve, but why? Through serving we fully demonstrate the love of God to others. Christ calls us to follow His example. There's always a blessing when we follow Christ's command. We serve sacrificially, joyfully, wholeheartedly, and for God's glory.
A disciple is one who follows in the path of another and helps others do the same. How do we follow? We love God with all our hearts by beginning each day in God's Word, living a life of worship, and talking (and listening) to God through prayer. And we love people as God loves us by connecting with a community of Christ-followers, serving one another humbly, and sharing God's story with everyone.
What we believe about Jesus is the most important thing we will ever believe. We must answer the questions: Who is Jesus? What is the Gospel? What is baptism?
The road to apathy includes a desire for personal comfort and a drift toward spiritual compromise. We would rather impress people than worship God. We are focused on earthly things rather than eternal. We only connect with God when we desperately need Him. We believe in Jesus but never share Jesus. And we live just like the rest of the world. How do we get moving again? We take a step of faith and recognize the urgency.
What's the truth about sadness? Sadness over losing someone, over the suffering of others, over the brokenness of the world, and over the sin in our own life is a normal but temporary part of life, but sadness also brings us closer to the presence of God.
We all deal with anger. The question is, how will we respond to it? Anger is not about them; it's about me. Anger gives an opening to your enemy. Every word has an impact. Remember who you belong to. Anger is the symptom; deal with the real issue. Raise your awareness of God's grace (and don't withhold if from others).
When envy takes over, we forget God’s past faithfulness, overlook God’s present provisions, and ignore God’s future promises. How do we respond? We stop the comparison game and find contentment in who Christ is.
Joy looks like dreaming again, sounds like singing and testifying again, and is grounded in the greatness of God and strengthened through what you’ve been through.
Are we living as if Jesus owes us or living grateful for what He’s done? If we are living grateful, we live in obedience without knowing the outcome, give Jesus praise when surrounded by problems, and choose complete wholeness over temporary healing.
