In the first part of this series, we explore and define generosity through Paul’s letter of warning and encouragement to a younger follower of Jesus, examining the role generosity plays in becoming a Spirit-filled and Spirit-led disciple.

This week we look at the beatitude Jesus repeats and makes personal, from the millions of Christians persecuted worldwide to the quieter costs of faithfulness at home. Persecution isn't the reward for being difficult but the world's reaction to pursuing Jesus. Through stories from Nigeria, Romania, Sudan and Libya, we are called to pursue the heart of a martyr, a faith built on ordinary days long before it is tested.

How would Jesus describe peacemakers, and how can we begin to see them through his eyes?

Who are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness and how can we begin to see them through the eyes of Jesus?

How do we begin to see the merciful and in turn become vessels of mercy in the world around us both for those closest to us and for those who we don't yet know?

Who are the meek and how can we begin to see them through the eyes of Jesus?

How do we begin to see those who are mourning through the eyes of Jesus?

How do we begin to see the world the way Jesus sees it? And what does Jesus see when he looks at those who are poor in spirit?

In part three of the series, we explored what can happen when we recognize that God is sovereign over rejection of the Gospel and receptivity to the Gospel. And we explored the ways that through witness, God gives churches a unified vision to seek and save the lost.
