Sermon Video, Calvary Community Church, Williams Bay, WI

The world watches in amazement as Americans plant tombstones in their front yards, hang skeletons and “ghosts” around their homes, and fill their theatres with terrifying movies. What does it mean in a world wracked by real earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and the brutality of devastating wars? Where are the people who bring honorable hope, maybe even "holy hope" to a desperate world?

Global economic instability; European nations facing bankruptcy; African famine and starvation; Central Asian terrorism wars; South American drug wars...where can anyone find peace and hope for today? Reincarnation, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Atheism, Animism… where can anyone find peace and hope for eternity? How is your heart today?

God invites every living human being to “draw near” to Him...but what about the veils that blind our minds, harden our hearts and cast dark shadows over every part of our lives? 1.3 billion Muslims live behind fearful veils that prevent them from experiencing “Draw Near to God” through Jesus Christ. Much of the non-Muslim world is living behind the veils of increasing fear and uncertainty about Muslims. What would God want us to understand? How do we remove the veils?

Look out over the landscape of America. What do you see? How different does America look if you “Draw Near to God” and, from His perspective, look over our nation? How different does Walworth County or your family look when viewing from “God’s Perspective?” What does God want us to do about what HE sees? And what if we do nothing?

Each of us faces battles every day of our lives. We are faced with the choice of serving God or our own pleasures. The battle rages. It requires great courage to stand up and choose what is God-honoring. More than ever, we need courageous men and women of God who will rise up and find courage from God for the battle and fight to live Bible-based, God-honoring lives. Are you ready to find courage for the battle you are facing?

The complexity of normal life demands courageous living...so why is it so rare to find someone who lives courageously? This week...at the school flagpole, in every segment of the marketplace, on the athletic field and in living rooms...the world desperately seeks those who will stand courageously. God invites each of us to ‘Draw Near" to Him and let Him awaken the courage so desperately needed in every home, every school, every business, every nation.

“Remember” is a God-designed vital part of living life well. This weekend, Calvary Community Church pauses to remember our 90-year journey. 1921 was a different time, yet people just like us courageously began a little church in Williams Bay that year, which over the decades has become who we are today. Who are we? What is God’s purpose for us? What can we learn from the journey thus far?
