Know the Weapons of the Snakes--Know the Weapons of the Church

We focus on the 9th commandment as illustrated in 2 Samuel 15. With great cunning, by a display of showmanship and by means of a conspiracy, Absalom aimed to make himself King. Absalom carefully planted lies in select men of Israel, sowing weed seeds of dissatisfaction with King David. May God use his Word to expose deceit and enable us to pursue hearts of integrity and transparency.

In this worship service we focus on the 8th commandment as illustrated in 1st Kings 21. King Ahab was sulking on his bed because he didn-t get what he wanted. His wicked wife Jezebel found a way to steal what he wanted through murder. May God help us to learn what the commandment means and receive the healing balm of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Because Christ has loved us and given himself for us, all unholy words, jokes, gestures and even thoughts are not to characterize us anymore. Instead of impurity, our conduct is marked by a far superior attribute. May God grant us grace to believe the gospel and obey the 7th commandment, as we hear it taught from Ephesians 5 and expanded in Lord-s Day 41 of the Heidelberg Catechism.
