Overview: The place where Abraham was to sacrifice his son Isaac, Mt. Moriah, became Auruna's thershing floor which King David purchased to offer a sacrifice to stop the national plague which was the consequence of counting the number of his army.----The place where Abraham was to sacrifice his son Isaac, Mt. Moriah, became the site for Solomon's Temple and Altar of Burnt Sacrifice. When the Lord stopped Abraham from killing Isaac, Abraham turned around and found a ram trapped by its horns in a thicket behind him.----It is possible that the place, where Jesus was crucified outside the city of Jerusalem, was the place where the ram was caught in the thicket.----The significance of the Moriah Parallel is compounded with the discovery of the contrast between the consequence of Abraham's obedience and the consequence of Moses' disobedience. The consequence of Abraham's obedience in offering Isaac as a sacrifice resulted in a great blessing. The consequence of Moses' disobedience in striking rather than speaking to the rock to quench the thirst of the people in the wilderness resulted in Moses being barred from entering the promised land because the rock that followed the people was Christ, 1 Corinthians 10-4.----In Exodus 17-6, Moses' striking the rock that followed the people was a picture of Christ's crucifixion. In Numbers 20-7-13, Moses' disobedience of striking rather than speaking to the rock was a picture of Christ being crucified again.
