Once a year, in the fall of the Jewish calendar year, there was the Day of Atonement which is also known as Yom Kippur [יוֹם כִּיפּוּר]. It was a day in which the sanctuary was cleansed of the record of forgiven sins of Israel. Hebrews 8 tells us that Jesus ministers as our High Priest, reflected in the sanctuary of old serving as a type of His Heavenly Sanctuary. We are now living in the anti-typical Day of Atonement.
