SERMONS #9 – Abraham & Isaac (8/17/21)

Listen Later

29:05 – Once it appears that Abraham and Sarah’s “miracle baby” Isaac will survive to become a legitimate heir, Abraham sends the secondary heir and his mother the maid packing, then is shocked to find out that Isaac is scheduled to be the entrée at the Yahwelians’ next barbecue, with Abraham serving as grillmaster. Abe’s predicament is compared to that of Job, as well as to that of the Gregory Peck character in 1976’s The Omen. Was Abraham’s Kierkegaardian “leap of faith” justified by virtue of the absurd, or was it unjustifiable by virtue of the insane?
