When Paul went to Corinth he did not go with flash and impressive speech. Paul decided to strip down his message to the bare essentials... Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He decided he was not going to rely on the wisdom of men, but only bring the wisdom of God... The Gospel of Jesus Christ. In our passage Paul shares some bad news about the Wisdom of God and some good news about the Wisdom of God. The good news he shares about God's Wisdom will give us all the confidence we need to truth God's Word and even love it. (2 Corinthians 2:1-16)

Jesus said that you must be Born Again to see the kingdom of Heaven. The New Birth is synonymous with salvation, but the New Birth empowers so much more. It empowers the Christian life from start throughout the end of eternity. This truth should cause us to sit in awe of our powerful and sovereign God who works mightily in the hearts of His children. (1 John 5:1-5)

Throughout the book of first John we have been taught what it looks like to have a relationship with God. John wants us to have confidence in our salvation and he wants us to be able to enjoy the intimate fellowship that comes as a result of a true relationship with God. In this passage John focuses on how we love. Those who have a relationship with God will love the way that God loves.

Don't believe everything you hear. That is the warning John offers up to the churches in Ephesus he was writing to. Believers are to be discerning and examine teachings they hear to make sure they are of God. John shares 2 tests that we should apply to all teachings we hear as well as reminder of what empowers us to follow after God. (1 John 4:1-6)

The purpose of 1 John is to help us understand what it means to be a child of God and grow our assurance of our relationship with Him. In this passage John encourages us to consider the way we love one another. When put our love to the test, is it consistent with the way God calls us to love?

Many claim to be children of God, but what does the Bible say about being a child of God? We will walk through 1 John 2:28-3:10 to see what God expects of His children.

We live in a world that works hard to minimize and water down the Gospel. In this passage John reminds us that the Gospel is constantly under attack and that we as Christians have a responsibility to guard and protect the Gospel in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

Happy Father's Day! As fathers there is a lot we are responsible for. The greatest responsibility we carry is pointing our children to Jesus. To do this we must be centered on jesus, the Gospel, and the cross. Philippians 3:1-16 shares some great insights on what it means to live a cross centered life.

As we continue our study through the book of 1 John we continue to learn what it means to be confident in our relationship with Jesus Christ. John wants his readers to be certain that they are children of God and he describes how their faith should be revealed through the way they live.
