When in reality, our homes or safe spaces for us, are harming others.”“Scripture reminds us in various ways to welcome one another. From the recurring theme of hospitality in the Hebrew Scriptures; to Jesus repeatedly commanding us to welcome the stranger; to Paul and other New Testament writers urging us to welcome one another. The type of welcome referenced in scripture goes beyond mere comfort. Remember that Jesus’ being unwelcome put him in real danger just as many in our communities are today. Being unwelcome for women, Black people, transpersons, non-English speakers, native persons, and other marginalized groups can literally lead to being abused, refused service, kicked out of their homes, or even killed.”

However, there will always be more than enough time, power, and healing to go around—if we prioritize the poor.” “… the ‘last shall be first and the first shall be last’ was not some pie in the sky vision of what the kindom will look like in the future. No, it is the rule of life for the followers of Jesus, the blueprint for the beloved community, the construction manual for the church, the instructions Jesus gave us for how to prioritize suffering and healing right now in the present at this point in history if we want the kindom of God to come on Earth as it is in heaven. The good news is that if we put the last first and the first last, then there will be enough for everyone and joy will abound for all.”

He came to tear down the kingdom of Satan by infiltrating the Strong Man’s house and plundering his property so it could be redistributed for the sake of building a more equitable society and a beloved kindom.” “Hope is the possibility of a new family that transcends kinship, biology, heredity, and patriarchy—a family we choose for ourselves to walk with on a journey of faith. Hope is the possibility of a community where our deepest relationships are with those willing to face their pain and travel with us on the road toward healing and liberation; not only of ourselves, but the entire world. Hope is the possibility of an inclusive and loving body of people who sacrifice their time, resources and lives to welcome those who society calls insane or possessed—to gather those who have been marginalized by their families, or demonized by the religious authorities.”
