On this third Sunday of Advent we come alongside John the Baptist and overhear all kinds of different folks ask, “What should we do?” In fact, this question is asked three different times in our scripture reading from Luke. In a nutshell, John said to all those ancient inquirers, “Do the good that is yours to do.” Would the answer still be the same today? What stands in the way of us living into that calling? Can we find the focus, courage and companionship to live into that more fully? How would that change us? And how might that change the world?
Scripture passages: Isaiah 58:9b-12 and Luke 3:7-16
