In Southern Baptist Churches we celebrate International Missions during December with a special offering in honor a great missionary to China named Lottie Moon. This message was for our kick off Sunday for that emphasis and came from the theme verse for this year's SBC focus in Revelation 7:9. It's a vision of every nation, tribe, language and people praising the Lord. We can be part of making that vision a reality as we support missions.

When a problem arises in our lives we respond from one end of the spectrum to another. From annoyance and anger on one end to peaceful trust or faith in God. We celebrated Halloween on October 31 and everyone dressed in some great costumes at our annual Trunk or Treat. We put on a costume as human beings and sometimes it masks who we really are, but God wants us to put on his costume of Christlikeness. We celebrated the Lord's Supper on the last Sunday of September at High Peak Baptist Church, so I took a look at the events surrounding the Last Supper. Jesus predicted His own betrayal by both Judas and Peter. We betray Jesus every time we sin, which requires us to repeatedly go back to the cross and Remember, Repent and Renew our commitment to Jesus. Our final sermon in the GROW series puts all the parts together to kind of summarizes the concept of growing in Christ. The series covers how Christians Grow Together by our pastor Dr. Kevin A. Purcell. The first part was W for Worship. Then we looked at the R of Grow for Reporting the Good News. Last week we saw how disciples live Other-focused lives using the O in Grow. This last one finished it out with the G for Growing.
