Who can tell us what the future holds? In this sermon on Ecclesiastes 9:1–10:20, Pastor Justin Perdue walks through the Preacher’s sobering honesty about life under the shadow of death: death comes to the righteous and the wicked alike, no one knows their time, and even wisdom — though better than weapons of war — cannot secure the future, because one sinner destroys much good. Yet this honesty frees us to eat our bread with joy and receive God’s everyday gifts as gifts rather than gods.
