Solomon’s exhaustive search for wisdom keeps running into the same wall: sin is universal, human power is often abused, and the righteous and wicked don’t always get what they deserve. His conclusion, “under the sun,” is stark — no one, however wise, can fully decode how life or God’s providence works. But viewed “above the sun,” God’s delay in judgment is kindness meant to lead people to repentance, and His sovereign purposes are never derailed by human evil. We won’t be given full answers to life’s hardest questions — instead, we’re called to rest not in our own righteousness or understanding, but in Christ, by faith.
