  • The Marriage Feast
Jesus often used parables in His teaching – using an everyday illustration to describe a spiritual truth. In this parable, Jesus described a king giving a wedding feast for his son; yet not everyone answered the invitation. As we study this parable, we are going to attempt to identify the MAIN point. Once we do that, we will then see how we can apply this in our lives.

  • Dangers on the Safe Side (Part 4): Avoiding Persecution
This is the fourth and final lesson in a series about dangers that exist “on the safe side.” This phrase means “avoiding danger, with a margin for error” (definition). Sometimes this is fine or even wise, but there is a difference between wisdom and safety. Sometimes they overlap, but not always. At times, staying “on the safe side” is actually dangerous. Erring on the side of caution can cause us to err when it leads to fear and compromise or results from a lack of faith. Faithfulness often requires us to venture out of safety. We must do God’s will regardless of the danger.

  • Lifting Up Our Soul to the Lord
This psalm is about our dependence upon God. We will notice three areas in which we are dependent upon Him. The psalmist explained this by describing himself as lifting up his soul to the Lord. This is a surrender to God – a complete trust in Him and confidence that he would not be ashamed. We need to have the same attitude toward God as the psalmist expressed.

  • Rest for the People of God
The Hebrew writer was encouraging his readers to remain faithful in order to receive the promised rest. He would remind them of the example of their forefathers who did not remain faithful. He warned them that they could also fall short of the rest that the Lord had promised. These instructions provide an important lesson for us as well. Let’s consider what this passage teaches.
