  • Ruth | ep. 5
    Speaker: Vince Medrano
We conclude our stay in the Book of Ruth with a look at the theme of Redemption. The Bible introduces us to Kinsman-Redeemers: “The relative who restores or preserves the full community rights of disadvantaged family members.” And, the Book of Ruth provides one of the most unique and detailed pictures of the Kinsman-Redeemer in the every day life of God’s people. As we close out our series today, we’ll discuss: the role of the redeemer, the need for a redeemer, our pursuit of the redeemer and our participation in redemption.

In our 3rd week in the Book of Ruth we consider the powerful impact a surrendered life can have for generations to come and the grace of God that positions us to participate in extending his redemptive presence towards others. Here we see that God uses both the rich and the poor the advance His Kingdom presence in our world today…

  • Family Sunday | Teachers and Students
    Speaker: Vince Medrano
We set aside the morning to pray for our students and educators as they begin the new school year. We were encouraged to remember Jesus’ words to not be anxious about tomorrow but to consider the birds of the air and the flowers of the field. If He provides and cares for them, then how much more provision and care be lovingly extended to us?
    Today’s Scripture: Matthew 6:25-34
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

  • Christ is Supreme | Colossians 4.7-18
    Speaker: Lorissa Medrano
We end our study in the book of Colossians by looking at the names of those who made up the people Paul is writing to. The way God works in the world is through people. It’s not through big name superstars. And Paul highlights a list of names that shows a diverse people, who had every reason to be fractured, walking in great unity.
    Today’s Scripture: Colossians 4.7-18
7 Tychicus will tell you all about my activities. He is a beloved brother and faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord. 8 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are and that he may encourage your hearts, 9 and with him Onesimus, our faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will tell you of everything that has taken place here.
10 Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, and Mark the cousin of Barnabas (concerning whom you have received instructions—if he comes to you, welcome him), 11 and Jesus who is called Justus. These are the only men of the circumcision among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have been a comfort to me. 12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God. 13 For I bear him witness that he has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and in Hierapolis. 14 Luke the beloved physician greets you, as does Demas. 15 Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house. 16 And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea. 17 And say to Archippus, “See that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.”
18 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.

  • Christ is Supreme | Colossians 4.2-6

    Speaker: Serene Neddenreip

Because Christ is supreme and our lives redefined, our fundamental orientation to the world around us has also changed. We are a community called to be gracious and attractive so that we might earn the right bless, express, present, and influence lives towards Jesus Christ…

    Today’s Scripture: Colossians 4.2-6

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. 3 Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. 4 Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.

Col. 4:5 Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

  • Christ is Supreme | Life Redefined - Colossians 3.17-4.1

    Speaker: Mark Slomka

Christians believe and confess that Jesus is Lord. But either Jesus is Lord of and over all — or He is not Lord at all. Life is the lie-detector test of a Christian’s faith. This is not about being the perfect saint… it IS about living with a surrendered soul.

    Today’s Scripture: Colossians 3:17-4.1

17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. 20 Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.

22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord. 23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. 25 But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done. For God has no favorites. 1 Masters, be just and fair to your slaves. Remember that you also have a Master—in heaven.
