Love can be expressed in a moment, or in a day. Faithfulness is comprised of expressions of love over time. 

We have strayed from God and have been unfaithful. We have put ourselves first, made idols out of things in our lives. But God remains faithful to us. Jesus displays his faithfulness, as he did to the woman caught in adultery. Instead of condemning her, he showed her compassion, and he does the same to us each day. 

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This is where love begins. Love is what happened on the cross and in the empty tomb on Easter. 1 John 4:10: "This is love: it is not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent his Son as the sacrifice that deals with our sins."

We continue our Fruit of the Spirit sermon series on Love. We are reminded that our love is to be rooted in the love of God. The kind of love that Jesus showed when he took on the role of a servant and washed the disciples's feet. The love he demonstrated when he died on the cross for our sins. 

Introduction to our new sermon series on the fruit of the Spirit. Each month we will focus on one of the fruits, starting with Love. As we delve into these fruits it is important for us to remember that we do not produce them with our own efforts. As we abide in God, His Spirit will bring forth these fruits in us. 

"I AM the  vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing," Jesus said.
