This is a sermon about a difficult conversation between Jesus and Peter, where Peter challenges Jesus when he says that he must go to Jerusalem, be betrayed and crucified. The cross has become a common symbol, but in the ancient world it was a terrifying symbol. What does it truly mean to take up our cross and follow Jesus?

Our bishop returns to preach again, this time as "Grandpa John," celebrating the baptism of Charles Benjamin Landreville, the grandson of our bishop (and godson of our priest, Geoffrey Chapman). It was a unique service to say the least! 

Our bishop preaches to us on our 20th anniversary celebration and confirmation service. The text is the miracle of Jesus walking on water, and Bishop John sees Peter's response to Jesus as an allegory for our faith journey.

This is a sermon about the loaves and the fishes - a miracle that happens in all four gospels, and a miracle Jesus himself continues to remind his disciples over and over. Why? Why did Jesus constantly keep reminding his disciples about this miracle? This is a story about the significance and meaning of this miraculous feast.
