A group of "weaker" believers are struggling with their justification by grace through faith alone in Christ alone. Yet Paul assures them that they are not disconnected from God because of their weakness; in fact, Paul calls them brothers for whom Christ has died. This sermon reminds us that God doesn't disconnect from us when we are weak and doubtful. And since we have this assurance, we can serve the weaker brother with joy, even if it means giving up our liberties in Christ.

Because our marital status doesn't affect our standing before God, when it comes to marriage and singleness, one isn't better than the other. Paul's big message in this that our earthly status (married, single, circumcised, uncircumcised, slave, free, etc.) does nothing to commend ourselves to God.
