If so, you need to hear David's prayer of repentance. He shows us how to approach God, how to repent, and how to live with the confidence that your sins have been forgiven.

From 2 Samuel 12:1-15. After David commits adultery with Bathsheba and murders her husband, he lives as if nothing wrong had happened. He feels confident that he has covered up his sin. But God sends Nathan the prophet to him with a story and a statement You are the man. that exposes the sin of David's heart. David sincerely repents of his sin I have sinned against the Lord. and is forgiven. But, even though David is forgiven, his life will never again be the same; the sword never departs from his house. His ability to lead his family is diminished. His ability to lead his nation effectively is gone; his immorality had destroyed his authority. David learns that his sins - even though he receives forgiveness - had dire consequences.

How does God expose the secret sins of our heart? How should we respond when our secret sins are exposed? What does sincere repentance look like? Why must we face consequences for our sins - even after they've been forgiven? We'll learn the answers to these questions - and many, many more - tomorrow morning. It's going to be a challenging day.

David was God's chosen King of Israel, a writer, a poet, the Psalmist of Israel, a brave warrior, an honorable man, a kind man, and a man with a heart for God, yet David committed one of the most heinous sins recorded in the Bible in 2 Samuel 11: he committed adultery with Bath-sheba and then killed her husband, Uriah, in an attempt to cover up his sin. If something like this can happen to someone like David, then something like this can happen to someone like you and me. What steps led to David's great sin? How can we avoid walking in his footsteps?
