The drama of salvation continues as the plot thickens: Jesus, teaching with power and authority, confronts the evil that seeks to control us. He has defeated that evil and sets us free! Are we ready to listen and follow him?
As Jesus begins his public ministry, the first thing he did was to assemble those who were the "supporting cast." They would eventually spread the good news to all the world. Jesus calls us today, just as he called the disciples: Follow me. How do we respond?
The drama of salvation begins at the river Jordan. At the Baptism of our Lord, God presents him to the world as His Son, whom He loves. We, too, are the children of God - with a mission to do.
The world might have moved beyond Christmas, but for us Christmas is never "over." Christ is born to us for every day, every year. Let's not limit him to our own expectations.
When God came to Mary and Joseph, He came with the interruption that changed the world. Today, God interrupts our lives as He calls us to faith and to follow Him.
Juhn the Baptist cried out in the wilderness, "Prepare the way of the Lord". In all of the wildernesses in our life, we need to prepare our hearts to be ready for God's coming to us as he gives us new meaning and new life.
