This is a new study, verse by verse, of the fifth book in the Torah. An 11 day journey took 40 years. Moses walked with them all the way until the whole rebellious generation was wiped out. And now at the end of the 40 year wilderness wanderings they stand on the precipice of entering the Promised Land. Moses wont be entering with them, so he delivers to them his final message.
This new four-part sermon series interconnects 1 Corinthians 2 and Galatians 5 in relation to the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian. What gives us "super" power and wisdom and inner strength that seems abnormal to the world is the Holy Spirit of God that dwells in us. Indeed born again Christians are supernatural people due to the divine influence of God in their inner parts.
This is a study in conclusion to the series on hell and is a reflection on various subjects including hermeneutics, sectarianism and traditions.
Revelation describes hell as a Lake of Fire. Is there an Old Testament reference to it? We see that Death, Hades, Satan, the Beast, the False Prophet and those whose names were not in the book of life were thrown into this lake. If this is the case then the lake of fire is not a physical place but symbolic apocalyptic language to describe God's justice bringing an end to all evil associated with the cosmos. John describes the Lake of Fire as the "second death"? Does that support the concept of annihilationism? Or is there some other meaning to it?
In this study we explore the various phrases Jesus used to describe hell. Does eternal fire mean those who go into hell burn forever, but never get destroyed? Or is the eternal fire a metaphor for God's divine justice and wrath on sin? In this sense God's wrath will consume the wicked instead of punishing the wicked for eternity.
This might sound like a silly question, but it is a question on the minds of many of us. If we live and sacrifice for and desire to be in heaven, what can we expect to do there? The Bible gives various answers that are quite impactful and assists u in getting excited about the fact that heaven won't be a foreign experience for us, but a powerful and glorified one.
The heaven that God has prepared for us is not some distant spiritual place where we will float as spirits on the clouds. Through the prophecies of Isaiah, the teaching of the Apostle Peter and through the apocalyptic visions of John the Revelator one thing becomes clear: Heaven is a New Earth, a new cosmos. The Bible teaches that God will liberate creation from the curse, not abandon it.
