As we look ahead through the year, this is a year of uncertainty. Both political elections and the UUA Presidential elections are big questions ahead. At UUCP, we hope to be intentional this year in thinking about how to nurture and fortify ourselves for this year.

This spring, after two years of being an adviser for our middle and high school groups, UUCP member Gary Ezzell received his Medicare card. He will ask what it means to "come of age", a question that grows and matures but seldom goes away.

UUs have a long history of expanding our theologies to offer language that can kindle and sustain our spirits. Drawing from world religions, nature, and justice work, our spiritual vocabulary becomes more comprehensive and enriching.

Traumatic experiences can affect our relationship with ourselves and others. The path from fear to freedom can be achieved through different expressions of love. How do we keep the lessons, let go of the pain, and re-open ourselves to let the spirit of life flow through us freely again?

Stories are one of the most powerful mechanisms humanity has for passing on meaning and values. How do the stories we tell of war and of peace shape the meanings and values we hold? Do we need new stories?

We know the stories of many of the prominent world religious leaders, but what about their mothers? We will explore what we know of the sacred mothers of the world.

There is much in life that we may never know. How is learning to let the mystery be a path to peace? The theme for this service was chosen by our "Choose the Sermon" auction winner. Finding peace with the unknown, with not knowing.

As we wrap up our annual Stewardship Campaign, let's celebrate and imagine what it would mean to live into our vision of becoming a Spiritual Community for our Time! Music includes the choir, drums and the Dissidents and Ukes too!

The language of our covenant hearkens back to the late 1800s, as both Unitarians and Universalists kept moving further away from explicitly Christian beliefs and tried to open up to the growing humanist values and principles. We will explore the history of this development, and see how it resonates with us today.

"Service is our prayer" are words we say every week as a part of our covenant. There is value in service, but in the work of justice seeking, service is only one piece of the work we must do.
