Dear parents, I want to give you a heads up about this week's sermon. I'm preaching from Proverbs 5 and we'll be talking about the dangers and blessing of sex. I am going to strive to be tactful and careful in the way I discuss this, mindful that we have young children in the congregation. I did, though, want to let you know this in advance as you think through any potential questions your kids might ask. As you think through your discipleship of your kids in this area, remember that the original context of Proverbs is that of parents teaching their children how to be wise in the various areas and challenges of life. It is telling that in chapters 1-9 of Proverbs, the author brings up this topic again and again. He discusses the dangers of adultery in chapter 2:16-20, all of chapter 5, half of chapter 6, and all of chapter 7. Obviously, he thought this was an important topic to discuss with our kids and an important area of life where we, and our kids, need to be trained as disciples of Jesus.
