In the Hebrew calendar New Year’s is a month-long celebration. Each day centers around the theme of absolution. Instead of resolutions – which are about a self-makeover, what if we begin this year with an absolution? – which is about a make-over by God.

Psalm 103 describes the Lord as praiseworthy, gracious, dependable, a covenant-keeping God of grandeur who has "established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all."

Christ had a true human body, real physicality, but without sin. He is able to redeem every aspect of our physicality.

Christ had a real, sinless emotional life. Christ saves us in our emotional distresses.

As God's people seek and follow him, He is in their presence, rejoicing over them with gladness, delighting and exulting over them with singing. God is in our midst, mighty to save, rejoicing over us.

Joy in hard moments, a joyful people in the world, and a joyful purpose in every season. Come, Desire of Nations, come.
