Four hundred years after the close of the Old Testament canon, Israel was a nation without a prophet. Advanced in years, Zechariah was a priest without a son. When Luke's Gospel begins, a messenger from the presence of God brings good news: the land will receive a prophet, the priest will receive a son. And the newborn prophet will point to the long-awaited Savior, Jesus Christ. “Benedictus" is the second of four sermons in a series on the Advent songs of Luke's Gospel called My Soul Magnifies the Lord. Through the words of Mary, Zechariah, the angels, and Simeon, we discover the significance of Christ's birth to the world. Visit us online at www.graceforsiouxfalls.org.
