When we look at the book of James we find an interesting view of our lives as Christians. While we are justified (made right) by faith, works do play a role in what our salvation looks like in the world.

Paul draws a nice diving marker between the old covenant and the new one. He doesn't put the old covenant down but shows how Jesus gives it a new meaning and focus.

Paul reminds us that following Jesus isn't easy and we will face struggles too hard for us to bear. But when God brings us through it will give us a witness to others in their time of struggle too.
