The Apostle Peter encouraged the church-scattered throughout Asia Minor to be a living witness of humility and gospel truth to the non-believing neighbors, officials, and rulers around them. In those times of great chaos and Christian persecution, he encouraged them to live as a people who are free. Not in a freedom governed and granted by men, but in the freedom from the curse of sin and death obtained for us by Jesus Christ. Likewise, Pastor David encourages us to live in humility and objective truth during these chaotic and alien times and to bear witness in thought, word, deed, and social media, only what we know to be objective truth.

As Grace Covenant gathers in cyber-space to worship on Easter Sunday 2020, Pastor David exhorts us to remember the gospel: Jesus Christ is alive today in order to provide to us a living hope through His resurrection! This hope is grounded in two promises: that the redeemed of Christ will enjoy an inheritance that is preserved for us in the heavenly places, and that nothing less than the power of God Himself guards and ensures that the redeemed will receive their inheritance at the last times.

As Pastor David begins his exposition of Ephesians, he draws our attention to the opening benediction of the book. There we find that each encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ is bestowed with His grace and His peace.

After Paul exhorts the church and its elders at Ephesus to stand guard and protect itself from false doctrine and false teachers (Acts 20:20-32), Jesus Christ himself writes to the Ephesian church (via the inspiration of the apostle John in Revelation 2) some 40 years later to both commend and to warn. While commending their adherence to true doctrine and teaching, the Lord warns that without love, He will remove the Ephesian church as an instrument of His grace. Pastor David encourages us to remember the primacy of God's commandment to love our neighbor, the necessity to confess and repent of sin which has been committed against our fellow believers, and return to be the witnesses of the love of the gospel.
