At the end of his gospel, John brings us the account of Jesus restoring Peter.

Jesus had told the disciples to go to Galilee and wait for Him. In the number of His disciples were fishermen, including Peter. So the disciples set out onto the sea of Galilee, where many of our Lord’s miracles were performed.

John shows us a despondent Mary Magdalene still at Jesus’ tomb. She is so distraught that even the sight of angels cannot break through the fog surrounding her. But with a word – calling her name, “Mary” – Jesus shows His great love for her.
