From before time began, it was God's plan that Jesus would die for the sins of Man. This has been and always will be the only path to eternal salvation. In the first eleven verses of Mark 14, we see a woman named Mary anointing Jesus with very expensive burial perfume in contrast to Judas and the Chief Priests planning His capture and death. However, the plan of God is sovereign over all and Mary is defended by Jesus for doing a "beautiful thing".
