This sermon is almost in two parts. The first half addresses the importance of what the Church in Acts 2 was devoted to (the teaching of the apostles, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer). The second half flies through Acts 3-5 and focuses on who Peter and John’s Ultimate Authority was.

Peter was a very courageous man who stood up before a crowd of Jews and proclaimed Jesus as Messiah. But was he always so courageous? No. What was it that changed him? This sermon looks at Peter’s story and the first sermon preached by him on behalf of the first church.

This sermon launches our study of the book of Acts. The focus here is on the arrival of the Holy Spirit, His impact, and what that means to us today.

We are instructed by Paul to “speak the truth in love”. What does that look like in our relationships between God’s family members? In our pursuit of unity and maturity among God’s family, we are to explore the depths of what our differences are in a positive, building way. This sermon looks at what that means.

The tongue is a powerful thing. James writes that it is also an evil thing. But what has God demonstrated for us in terms of the ways in which we use our words? This message looks at the need to train our tongues and use them for building up God’s people.

God’s Church, His Family, needs to have one common goal. This message identifies that goal as being “growth”. We are instructed by Paul and elsewhere in the Word to “grow up into Christ”. How do we do that? What does that growth look like?

According to the Word, Jesus calls us his friends. How incredible is that? So, if he calls us friends, what does he look for in a friendship? This sermon examines what Jesus had to say about the heart of a friendship.

God hates pride. There’s no gentle way to say that. Pride has no place in the Kingdom of God and this message looks at the presence of pride in the Church and the need to root it out, replacing it with the humility that God loves so much.
