How could God let this happen? Was Jesus no longer in control? Although hope was seemingly lost when Jesus went to the cross, all happened precisely according to God’s plan. Jesus didn’t come to save himself, but save humanity.

Jesus refused to be painted into a corner of "religious" duty and made it clear that he came to bring something new from what the religious leaders in his day had come to know. What was true then is often true now. The "old" ritualistic ways of seeing our relationship with God are not the dynamic pictures that Jesus gives us. He brought a new way of celebrating who God is, a new understanding of what it means to have a relationship with God, and a new meaning of living out one's faith...different than what some in his day had come to know.

Doctors treat the sick and not the healthy. In the same way, Jesus came for the sinful and broken...everyone! Because of this, He had the reputation of sharing meals with people that others thought weren't "worthy" of his attention. That's the beauty of God. None is too far from the reach of his powerful and merciful hand.
