In Jesus, God comes to be present with us in the flesh. He comes not to judge or shame but to reconcile with all creation.

Easter Sunday sermon. The empty tomb of Jesus is met with both disbelief and belief by those who hear the news of the resurrection. What is it that makes faith in such an extraordinary event possible?

Jesus is crucified on Good Friday, pouring out forgiveness and salvation for all of creation.

Underneath all of our idols is the idol of individualism. Since the moment humanity rebelled against God, we have been trying to climb up and be like God.

When we find our value, identity, and salvation in our collection of experiences and authentic feelings, we are following experimentalism.

Jaroslave Pelikan wrote, "Tradition is the living faith of the dead. Traditionalism is the dead faith of the living." We are often tempted to look back to the gold old days and cling to our traditions for our hope and security, but we are called to put our trust in the One to whom the Church's traditions point us.

When we love rules, accomplishments, and our own intellect more than Jesus, we are practicing legalism.

When we love material things more than Jesus, we are practicing the idolatry of materialism.
