A sermon for All Saints Day. Who are the people John sees in the throne room of heaven? Who are those who are clothed in white, singing praises to the Lamb?

Jesus calls his people to keep their eyes open, watching for the coming kingdom.

Jesus teaches his disciples that it is difficult for the wealthy to enter the kingdom of heaven. In doing so, he calls his followers to leave everything behind and trust in God alone for their salvation.

As disciples whose identity and values have been reshaped by the Gospel, we seek to live by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. We are called to love our neighbor and give witness to the Gospel in the vocations God has given us.

We are not called to live in isolation. The community of faith is central to our lives as disciples of Jesus.

The call to discipleship means we learn to value the things that Jesus values. One of the things that is at the heart of our values as disciples is worship.

As disciples of Jesus, we receive a new identity. What does it mean to really have life? Only in Jesus are we promised that we are truly living.

Christian discipleship begins with recognizing that Jesus brings us a new identity. Our new identity is not rooted in anything we do but in what Jesus has done for us.
